One Fabulous Year

One year ago I made a decision to make this photography thing a real business. That meant planting my feet a little firmer here in Pensacola. I've always wanted my own business- to be my own boss. And while that dream might have looked a little different (New York City, red carpets, penthouses...) this one is still pretty great. What I will say, though-- being your own boss is not as easy as it's cracked up to be.

While I've been so grateful for the business I've gotten, it's been incredibly hard work with lots and lots and lots of tears. Frantic phone calls to my mom and best friends needing advice or just to vent. Feeling alienated and left out by friends because I can't be as spontaneous as I once was-- I live by my Google calendar now. But these are all things that come with the territory, I guess. I wouldn't trade it, though. I'm doing something that I love & not everyone gets to say that.

So I continue to grow & and learn from my mistakes- which means asking for help when I need it, or deciding to hire help. Yes- I'm looking for an intern right now! Which is scary and exciting and fills me with anxiety all at the same time, but I'm ready for it. I'm ready for the growth.

I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has been there for me in some form or another- whether you've been a client, shared my social media posts, referred me to someone, been my unpaid assistant, listened when I needed to vent, lent a shoulder to cry on, and cheered me on locally or from a distance. Thank you-- because of you guys I have survived a whole year & I can't wait for the next.

x
